Why You Need to Install a Dashcam in your Car

Posted by Brian Nguyen | Aug 28, 2021 | 1 Comment

This is actual video footage from my client's dashboard camera. (posted with client's permission and client's name is being withheld because of confidentiality and the attorney-client privilege).  It shows her car accident happening in real-time.

The footage is straightforward. My client is waiting in a left turn lane at a red light, waiting for the light to turn green so that she can make a left turn. Out of nowhere, a car coming from the opposite direction runs a red light, t-bones another car and both cars end up hitting my client's car.

Not only did this dashcam footage make it abundantly clear that my client was innocent, it also cleared the driver who was T-Boned of any liability as well.

And this is exactly why YOU need to get a dashboard camera for your car. There are numerous types of automobile collisions where a dashcam would be tremendously helpful and they include but are not limited to the following:

1) T-Bone crashes at intersections wherein one person had the green light and the other person ran the red light. Although many of these intersections have traffic cameras, many if not most intersections do NOT have traffic cameras. In that scenario, it is your word against the other driver's word.  And trust me, when the chips are down, there are no witnesses, and the other driver thinks he/she can get away with lying, he/she will absolutely blame you for the crash.

2) Crashes where one car unsafely changes lanes into your lane and broadsides your car. If you don't have dashcam footage showing that you were in your lane the whole time, what is going to stop the other driver from accusing YOU of being the driver who unsafely changed lanes?

3) Crashes where the other car comes out of a small neighborhood street and t-bones you while you are driving straight on the main street.  Once again. If you don't have a dashcam installed, what is going to stop the other driver from lying to the insurance companies and claiming that YOU were the one turning out of the small neighborhood street while they were driving on the main street?

4) Crashes that occur on freeways and highways wherein potential witnesses have already disappeared and there are no street cameras around.

Guess what happens if you cannot prove that the accident was the other party's fault?  If you do not have collision coverage on your auto insurance, you'll have to pay for the vehicle repair out of your own pocket. You might also have to pay for your own medical bills. And if the crash ends up turning your whole life upside down due to chronic pain and suffering, you will be completely unable to get justice for what happened to you.

Don't let that happen to you! Get a dashcam for your car today. There are at least a hundred dashcam models you can buy off Amazon that require no batteries and are powered by your car's USB plug. Moreover, most of these dashcams record video onto SD and mini-SD cards.  And for many of these dashcams, you don't even have to worry about running out of space on SD or mini-SD card since the dashcam partially deletes old videos to make room for more recordings after a certain amount of video has been recorded during your commutes.

Get a dashcam today. Trust me, you'll thank me later!

It made sense to me when you said that a dash camera will allow you to prove that you are in your lane the whole time should another driver charges you of changing your lane. This is something that I will share with my husband since he has been driving a truck. He could be into accidents at any time, and it is important for him to always have backup evidence should accidents happen. I will share this with him. https://pgttechnologies.com/dash-cams/
